- 1/4 inch (6.3mm) plug to 1/8 inch (3.5mm) plug
Grado offers a mini adaptor cable that converts a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) plug to 1/8 inch (3.5mm) plug. The mini adaptor cable has a 1/8 inch (3.5mm) plug then 8 inches (20cm) of cable connected to a 1/4 inch (6.3mm) jack. The 8 inches (20cm) of cable eliminates added leverage on the output circuit board of the source. The mini adaptor cable is constructed of the same high quality wire as their headphone cable. Grado guarantees no degradation of sonic quality with Grado headphones while using their mini adaptor cable.

| I bought a pair of Sennheiser HD-555 and HD-595 a while back - both which comes with some bulky straight adapters which puts a decent amount of stress on the headphone jacks. I can say that they have definitely loosen my headphone jacks in which I may have to consider sending my laptop for maintenance. That was the first reason that I needed to purchase a mini adaptor, however in the past week, the HD-555 tip snapped off in my iPod audio connector. This speed up my need for a mini adaptor hence the purchase of the Grado Mini Adaptor. The product description says it all. I like the long length and the relief for my headphones so I am quite happy with my purchase. |

| Well made product. I recommend it to anybody looking for a quality plug that will not strain the hook-up devices such as a computer or i-pod. |

The title says it all, a very fine adapter from a name you can trust.
I don't know if it justifies the price, but for my $200 pair of Sennheiser cans, I think it's worth not risking the supposed damage that could be done by using the included OEM adapter instead.
I'm using it in conjunction with the FiiO E5 Headphone Amplifier with Y Cable and everything sounds awesome. |

All right..... I'll edit my review as I've been reminded product and service are not connected.
I searched diligently to secure a non-stereo adaptor to plug an 1/4"accoustic guitar pickup into a 1/8" computer microphone plug. Surf yourself.... you will find stereo adaptors identified as such in every instance.
There is nothing in the title suggesting this adaptor is exclusive to headphone usage...
Product description neither declares it as for headphone use....nor is stereo included in the title or description.
Now... my complaint, be it product or provider:
After waiting a week after forever for the package to finally arrive, it was the wrong product (stereo instead of mono 1/8th inch jack), came in a box that could have contained 10,000 of the same product..... beaten all to heck and 7 days passed an already unbelievable wait. It could have fit in an envelope! When I tracked the item I was told on the phone it was delivered..... but even their own tracking software didn't suggest it had arrived.... and then, ta da..... 3 days later. I tossed it in the trash. |

Not really wanting to spring for the high end prices, I recently purchased a pair of Audio Technica ATHM40FS Studio headphones at for a third of the $150. list price--a real bargin. I use them to listen to music stored on my laptop, while I'm online, writing, etc. The 1/8 outlet is on the side of laptop, so I was pleased because of its length and design to see that this Grado Mini Adaptor Cable was available. Having it, allows me to rest the 1/4 inch RCA plug from the headphones and the Grado Mini Adaptor, both on the desk, next to the laptop. (As others have said, the adaptor takes any stress off the 1/8 inch component outlet.) I found the adaptor to perform, excellently, without detracting from the audio quality of the Audio Technica ATHM40FS Studio headphones.
A footnote regarding the price, ($14.95), for the Grado adaptor: truth is, not being an engineer, I have even spent double that for video and patch cables at Radio Shack, Belken, etc., which I only wound up having to replace for cables with better shielding. The Grado adaptor appears and performs like a high quality adaptor that I won't have to replace, anytime soon. |
