| Very Pleased | 2010-08-21 | 5 / 5 |
| | I bought this trumpet for my 11 year old daughter to replace the one we'd been renting from her school. She had just finished her first year of band and needed one to keep practicing over the summer. It sounded great out of the box, so much better than the rental. My daughter also said it was easier to play and we haven't had any issues since it arrived in June. It seems like a quality instrument at a great price and I couldn't be happier with this purchase. |

| | After searching for a Trumpet for my eleven year old, we found the Lj Hutchen trumpet, and it had great reveiws. Thankfully, I pushed aside my skepticism of purchasing an instrument online and bought it. We purchased a student Yamaha trumpet for an older child that cost us nearly $600 and we virtually cannot tell a difference between them. It was a fantastic buy. |

| | My wife got it for me as gift. I will say the I am not an experienced player. I am also not a child. This is my first instrument. Nevertheless, I am an engineer that designs acoustic transducers and I can tell that this is great craftsmanship and emits a great sound. I have been using it for a few months and it works perfectly. If you buy this for a beginner, get them also "Sound the Trumpet: How to Blow Your Own Horn" by Johnathan Harnum. This book will make it fun for the beginner to learn, it has tricks, info on what music to listen, as well as care, troubleshooting and cleaning instructions. It is a trumpet user's manual. |
| Good Trumpet For The Price | 2010-03-23 | 4 / 5 |
| | I did not give this trumpet 5 stars because of the design issue with the valves as others have mentioned, that said, it is well worth the money. Word of advise for Canadian Customers, there is a duty charge at customs, and therefore you will be charged an additional $60 so if you are on a budget, you may want to take that into consideration. I wasn't aware of this and wasn't too happy, but this is an issue with Canadian customs and not the seller who obviously has no control over the matter. That said, this trumpet is worth the extra $60. |
| I'll Toot This Horn | 2010-02-24 | 5 / 5 |
| I played trumpet for years in high school and college, and I had an old Doc Severinsen model that I had a crystal clear beautiful sound with. Several years ago, I purchased an inexpensive trumpet and it sounded like garbage. I've decided to get back into playing again. Based on the reviews, I decided to go "cheap" and try this one. By "cheap" I mean as compared to the $500+ I could spend on what I knew would be a high quality instrument.
The other users are right on target about the valves being turned funny in the chambers, but that's easy to fix. Simply unscrew the tops of each valve chamber (not the stem itself), and turn them until they click. When seated properly, air should be able to be blown freely through the trumpet with all the valves up. If not, simply try turning them again. With a good eye you can line up the holes in the valves with the trumpet.
The trumpet ships with valve oil, and the slides are clearly well greased and ready for action. I took it out of the case, adjusted the valves as noted, blew through it for about 2 minutes to warm it up, and then produced a sound equivalent to my beautiful old Doc Severinsen. The valves work easily, the slides slide gracefully, and the most important piece is the sound quality is amazing.
As if all that wasn't enough, I ordered the item, and it was on my doorstep within 3 business days.
If you have a youngster just starting out, or are getting back into it like I am, or need a good concert quality trumpet without spending a thousand dollars, this is the horn for you! |
